“Evening Colors.” A Landscape Painting by PK Jones and Inspired by Percy Gray
Donated by PK Jones
Style: Impressionism
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size (before framing): 16” high x 20” wide
Size (with frame): 18” high x 22"
Retail Price: $1,450 (includes gold frame)
Reserve Price: $500
As the sun goes down, colors soften and a quiet calm settles over the land. No one was better at portraying this feeling than Percy Gray, one of the great Early California Impressionists. His paintings speak of a deeply personal and emotional response to the poetic beauty of the outdoors. The California scenes he captured are fast disappearing and this painting pays homage to his depiction of the peace of a late summer evening with dusk not far behind.
